Booked! is a scholarly engagement program designed to bring Tulane faculty, graduate students, and members of the broader university community together around academic publishing, interdisciplinary connection, mentorship, and writing. This half-day program will feature recently published books by Tulane faculty and create space for participants to learn from faculty authors, connect with colleagues across disciplines, and make meaningful progress on their own scholarly writing.What to Expect 11:00 AM–12:00 PM | Faculty Roundtable: The Scholarly Publishing JourneyHear directly from four Tulane faculty authors about their experiences bringing recent books to publication. The moderated conversation will explore topics including developing book projects, working with publishers, navigating peer review and revisions, balancing writing with teaching and service, interdisciplinary scholarship, and professional growth. You will receive a free copy of one of the below authors’ newest books.

Structured conversation prompts will help facilitate interdisciplinary connections, mentorship, and conversations about scholarly and professional development.1:00–2:00 PM | Small-Group Publishing WorkshopsChoose from five small-group conversations led by Tulane faculty and facilitators. Topics will focus on practical questions and challenges related to academic publishing and scholarly writing. Writing accountability and productivity2:00–3:00 PM | Dedicated Writing HourClose the afternoon with protected time to work on your own writing. Whether you are drafting an article, revising a dissertation chapter, developing a book proposal, working on a grant, or simply trying to make progress on a writing project, this hour is designed to give you dedicated time and space to write.Faculty will remain available for informal consultation and conversation, providing a low-pressure opportunity to ask questions or seek feedback.

Who Should Attend?Booked! is designed primarily for junior faculty and graduate students, but members of the broader Tulane community, including faculty, staff, and students interested in scholarly writing and academic publishing, are welcome to attend.Space is limited to approximately 50 participants.
