Our Focus Areas

 

Coordinate and Advance AEO Strategy

 

  • We develop an AEO vision unique to the Tulane community, influenced by its history and context that includes, but is not limited to, formulating policy, evaluating progress, identifying opportunities and areas of concern across the campus, and uniting existing efforts to capitalize on resources and increase effectiveness.
  • We lead and coordinate university-wide strategic AEO efforts, collaborating with university leaders and community members to develop, implement, and monitor programs designed to ensure fair treatment of students, faculty, and staff.
  • We design, lead, and assess AEO professional development and other growth opportunities cultivating a campus where everyone can reach their full potential.
  • We promote high-impact research, teaching, and community-based research and service

 

Enhance Faculty Development

 

  • We coordinate university-wide AEO initiatives across schools and programs and assist Tulane schools and units in developing, implementing, and assessing their faculty advancement plans; collaborate in the recruitment and retention of top-tier faculty.
  • We lead the creation or revision of mechanisms for faculty to achieve greater access to institutional support structures and programs.
  • We collaborate with associate provosts to recognize faculty academic excellence; cultivate academic leadership; and encourage the nomination and recognition of faculty for university, national, and international teaching and research awards.

 

Use a Data-Drive Framework to Improve Campus Climate

 

  • We collaborate with all areas of the institution to develop ambitious goals, practices, and measurable outcomes.
  • We conduct regular climate surveys, focus groups, analyze results, and make recommendations for action.
  • We examine AEO progress and determine what financial or human resources the university or external organizations can provide to continue the most critical and effective elements of AEO initiatives.
  • We provide guidance, support and accountability in setting metrics for AEO initiatives, tracking their implementation, and documenting their results on a regular basis.

 

Build Community and Foster Opportunity

 

  • We cultivate a community that embraces respectful dialogue and examines issues from a variety of viewpoints.
  • We consult with AEO leaders across campus, New Orleans, the Gulf South, nation, and globe to identify best practices in intercultural competency, knowledge, and skills supporting Tulane as a distinctive global university.
  • We coordinate development programs for campus stakeholders and partner to increase awareness, knowledge, skills, and small business opportunity
